Default What other games are worth buying?

I've been looking for a new game, but all I can find that has decent reviews is WoW. I've done the trial for wow 3 times and I just find the game boring and pointless.

What other games are some of you playing, and what would you reccomend? I am looking for another MMO like Guild Wars, with an action/adventure theme.

well, I'm bored with Guild Wars too and I'm currently playing a RTS game called Company of Heroes. Even thought this isn't a MMORPG, it's fun and entertaining in the fact that you can do so many things with your troops. From throwing grenade or bombs into building to putting snipers and heavy machine gunners into different areas to ambush your enemy.

As for MMORPG, I guess there is only WoW outside the world of Guild Wars. I haven't heard of any good MMORPG out there.

EVE is a good MMORPG, although the RPG part of it is debatable since its not like a typical Medevil style rpg. But either way its still a good game. You can try the 14days trial version to check it out and see if u like it or not. Unfortually after that u have to pa a monthly fee like WoW, but the game is extremely massive and its ever growing with regular expansions (i think theres 6 now) that are automatically free since u pay the monthly rate.

Auto Assault is pretty good. But it is a dieing game (around 1200 people play right now). You can buy it for 5$ and the monthly fee is 11.95$ per month (assuming you buy 12 months).

Age of Conan should suit you if you prefer the action-adventure type of gameplay.

EVE is good but be prepared to put in the hours. The learning curve is very steep. The tutorial will take 2-3 hours to complete. Very few kids due to the monthly fee and the difficulty.

WoW/EQ are worth looking into. The EQ community is more grown up the the WoW community.

Yeah u can skip the tutorial, but its does kinda explain pretty much everything u need to know so its still best for new players to actually go through it. Its boring but it does teach you how to play.

I read about that game Aion before, and sounds good on paper. We'll have to see how far the devs go with it and if it will become sucessful though.

I just need a game to play on the days I dont have school. nothing like logging into a good game after you been at school all day the past few days, and relaxing for the day.

im actually installing eve now, so I'll have that to play for 14 days at least.

Aion is being made by the guys who made Lineage 2. If you ever played the real Lineage 2 and not a free server you would know why that's a bad thing. They make beautiful games with cool pvp but they make it shallow, crappy terrain few trees it has no depth. Also their economy system is a +++ for bots and farmers. Not to mention it's endless grind.

I'm looking into Dark Messiah Might and Magic it's not an MMORPG more like a regular online RPG. Although in multiplayer you can battle it out 16v16 in like a regular deathmatch or in a special "crusade" humans vs undead and there are like 5 classes with magic, stealth and regular warrior type. It's really cool grahpics and the best part it is a FPS so its first person swinging sword shooting spells it's really awesome best game ever when it comes to feeling and flow of FPS.

Also C&C3 is catching my eye as the next "MMO" (note I didn't use RPG it is an MMO). It has integrated clan support (probably something similar to warcraft 3 but more advanced) Also it has VoIP (Voice over IP = ingame ventrilo) sweet as hell. Not to mention the graphics look totally wicked.

Those are my 2 games C&C3 is gonna come out in a few months prob and Dark Messiah is already out costs about 30 bucks over here and no monthly fee.

Don't think he meant the tutorial, but new characters start with 100,000(?) extra skillpoints now with the Revelation release, so you can start doing some real stuff right away instead of waiting a couple of days training the extra skills.

Anyways, EVE has 2 weeks free trial to test it out before paying anything so it's worth a shot. I should try it again I suppose since I hear Revelation fixed a ton of aspects of the game I was annoyed with :b

(Other new games coming, not necessarily MMOs, but: Bioshock (FPS, spiritual successor to the excellent System Shock series), Supreme Commander (Spiritual successor to the Total Annihilation-series), Hellgate: London (apparently has "MMO" option with instanced areas much like GW), Spore (not sure if it actually comes out this year already), S.T.A.L.K.E.R was announced for march launch etc. Good times, good times.

EVE Revelations is great, there are new systems to explore, new ships for all the races, lots of sweet new skills, new "rig" slots on all ships, ships leave wrecks which you loot and then use the new Salvaging skill on to get broken parts to get the rigs, it's just great. Unless you help a friend get a cruiser on his trial, he attacks you with drones on accident and gets CONCORDOKKENED (Concord is the name of the police force in EVE).

I left WoW to come to GW after completely burning out on raiding for 40+ hours a week. I've only been playing GW for two months now, have Prophecies and NF and am already worried about getting bored and having to wait for the next chapter.

I'm thinking about checking out Vanguard as well. If anyone has any good input on it let me know. ~Lirri
